Year-out/gap year staff

Every autumn FACT welcomes a new team of year-out staff. Typically these exciting posts are filled by students either before or after a degree, but are open to anyone who wants to apply.

Full training is provided during the year, with lots of opportunity to develop a whole range of skills for life. If you interested in applying read

Centre Instructors

We ideally need RYA level 3 sailors or equivalent (Seamanship module) to get you started, and there will be plenty of opportunity to gather more training experience and qualifications through the year. While the focus will be sailing tuition there will be a dose of boat repairs and equipment care. The climbing wall, archery and team building games all need lots of enthusiastic leaders and also ideas for development. You'll have accommodation onboard Trinity and a £33.46 per week allowance – and it will be the experience of a lifetime. Your Christian faith will have plenty of scope for exercise and development too.

Assistant Cook

It's best if you've had some experience of catering for numbers – but not essential. You'll need to be full of energy, have good ideas for new sandwich fillings, be able to work in conditions of high heat and a big dose of humour and not prone to panic when numbers for dinner double unexpectedly. There will be opportunities to engage in group work and even get a sail or two in the estuary. The FACT food department is one of the most crucial parts of our operation – you'll never be short of friends! Rewards are numerous – but you'll certainly get £33.46 per week and a cabin onboard.
