Supporting FACT

Why does Fellowship Afloat need support?

We have always relied upon the voluntary support of friends because:

  • it enables fees to be kept to a minimum – people are never turned away because of limited means;
  • it increases the scope of what we can do – so that our fee income doesn't restrict us;
  • it creates participation and ownership of our centre by supporters and users;
  • it creates a community of volunteers and helpers that makes a vibrant and energetic ethos.

How can people give support?

  • By volunteering and helping to sail, cook or repair things – more about this in the Volunteer Zone.
  • By praying – FACT believe that God wants us to pray about the big and small things in life. Ship to Shore is a monthly meeting that gives an opportunity to do this together. Our six-monthly newsletter Lightwaves is a good inspiration for prayers.
  • By giving money – about a third of our income comes from giving. Some give regularly every month others give larger one-off sums (you can get a Gift Aid form by clicking here).

Did you know?

  • The Government support giving to trusts through the Gift Aid scheme – if you are a taxpayer and sign a Gift Aid Declaration form, then FACT can claim an extra 28 pence in the pound.
  • If every one of our friends who receives the twice a year Lightwaves was to give £5 per month via Gift Aid, FACT would receive over £115,000 per year to develop the Trust's work.
